Beautifully spoken. Thank you Scott! These words have such power in every part of our lives. I work with clients on emotional eating and such advice is fundamental in our relationship with food and all aspects of health and intentional living...

Thank you for the reminder Scott. I agree the path to ending our own suffering is being aware of what is causing our suffering. I know for me right now is the life-long trauma response of fixing everyone I love’s problems. Keep everyone else happy as a way to keep myself safe.

Layers and layers of unpacking in the process, but as you said, it is only by going within with self-compassion to just BE. No running around trying to control situations or solving problems. Just simply being aware of the “fixing” response, noticing the mind loop with compassion, going back to the breath, going back within to the very essence within that is simply Me. Unbroken, whole, as permanent as the sky that holds the storm.

Ah, this crazy life! Blessings to everyone.❤️

Scott, I love that you chose not to dive into the despair for the sake of the essay. Thank you for reminding me that I have choices about where I place my attention (where attention goes, energy flows). Awareness is the gateway! I am aware of my emotions and much more intentional about what I am choosing. I choose to feel hopeful, joy, love. It’s not always easy, especially with what’s happening right now, but it is possible.

Much love to you my friend!

A few years ago I started a JOY journal. I use it to hold space for all my moments of joy. I love this practice, especially in times when I am feeling like I am in a dark place, or sad or depressed because reading about my joy lifts me up! I can feel the joy in my body as I read, and sometimes that joy bubbles up and spills out of my eyes!!

While it started out as a JOY journal, it has morphed into a JOY LOVE GRATITUDE journal!! Perfection!

Thanks for this wonderful reminder to seek out joy.

Big love, my friend xxoo ❤
