Hi Friends,
This is going to be a quickie.
As we head into another weekend, I want to share with you something I wrote several years ago in a soul-writing session and included in my book, Just Love.
What I call soul writing is also referred to as automatic writing. Basically, I go into meditation and connect with the energy of my soul, or heart, or Source, all of which carry the same vibration, and ask for guidance. We are conditioned to focus on our minds for all the answers, even though those answers are so often rooted in insecurity and fear. We benefit by instead seeking answers from a deeper, clearer, unafraid place within us, well beyond the mind.
I will either ask a specific question, or a general tell me what I need to know. When I come out of meditation, I start writing immediately from this energy, putting my mind on hold, and letting the clarity of my soul dictate what it feels I need to hear. This is an incredibly powerful practice, and I encourage you to try it if you haven’t already. And keep at it, as it’s not always easy initially to put your mind on hold and let your soul do the talking. When the soul comes through, however, you’re likely to be blown away by some of the wisdom expressed from within you.
Here’s what came through during the session I mentioned:
If you make one commitment, let it be to love yourself as completely as possible. No exceptions. No conditions. No restraint.
Repeat these words—
I commit to loving myself with everything I've got, even when I'm inclined not to, even when my mind directs me otherwise, even when others treat me poorly, even when I'm exhausted and overwhelmed and feel like I have nothing more to give. Even then, I will give my love to myself, because I am important, and worthy, and divine. I will love myself wholly, wildly and without inhibition, because I understand that by doing so I open my entire world to choices, connections and realities rooted in this love I give to myself. By loving myself, I invite love into every aspect of my life, as well as the lives of everyone I encounter. I commit to loving myself, because I am a being of love and function at my beautiful best when I live in, from and with this astounding wealth of love I have to share. For these reasons, and for every other life-affirming reason that exists in this world, I hereby commit to loving myself with absolutely everything I've got.
You are worth this pledge to yourself.
It will change everything.
I preach self-love so often because it does in fact change everything, and for the better. There is no aspect of our lives that isn’t enhanced by our growing capacity to love ourselves, and no possibility that we will not also serve others and our planet by doing so.
Perhaps this weekend, if you’re inspired, write your own self-love pledge, or copy the one I’ve written and hang it on your mirror. Memorize it and repeat it to yourself throughout the day. Let your energy be one of a person who is committed to self-love, and pay attention to the shifts that happen from this energy, from this commitment.
If you do write a self-love pledge and want to share it, please do so in the comments. I would delight in reading your pledges. Or, let us know one or two or five things you plan to do this weekend (or in general) that reflect your commitment to love yourself.
I wish you a peaceful weekend, filled with moments of reflection on how beautiful, worthy and loved you are, just as you are. Have no doubt: you make our world a much more radiant place to be.
Keep shining.
Big and Bigger Love,
Scott
We recorded a new episode of Hey Jacob, Hi Scott today. We talk about relationships, break-ups, boundaries, communication and finding presence as best we can within it all. You can find it wherever you listen to your podcasts.
Friends, there are several ways to support my work financially, if you have the desire and can afford to do so.
You can buy signed and personalized copies of my books, Just Love and/or Big Love through my website (only available in the US at this time). They make beautiful gifts for someone you love. I promise to write something lovely.
You can get a paid subscription to this newsletter for $7/month or $70/year. Whether you are here with a free or paid subscription, you have access to all the same content. Paid subscribers do get significant discounts to most of my individual workshops, though. If it’s within your budget, I appreciate you considering a paid subscription.
You can gather a group of friends and book me for a private online or in-person workshop, where we dive into whatever topics and questions you want to explore. This is a new offering and one I’m very excited about. You don’t have to wait for me to announce a workshop and hope the timing is right. We can agree on a date and take it from there.
I appreciate your support of my work, financially and otherwise. It means so much that you’re here. Thank you!
Remember: You are beautiful. You are worthy. You are loved. As you are.
You have a way of writing what I need when I need to see or hear it. I have a long way to go, but am becoming more able to love. I figure if I learn to love myself, that will make it easier to share love with others.
Scott, I am "elderly"....lol by definition of those in 3D. Discovering self love has been the greatest gift to me of all. I am learning so much. Thank you for choosing love also. I love you. <3
