Hi Friends,
I’d like to share with you a few things I find beautiful in hopes they’ll touch your heart too. Before I do that, I’d like to remind you that you are beautiful. Incredibly beautiful. As only you can be. Please let yourself breathe into the truth of your beauty, of the gifts that only you can offer. Your heart is ever-aware of how radiant you are. Return to your heart, again and again and again, so that you may know your beauty and your worthiness without question. Believe me: you shine baby, you shine. Our world is a much more wonderful place with you in it.
Now, here are some more tastes of beauty for you.
I Release Control by Alexa Sunshine Rose
Give yourself seven minutes, get comfortable, close your eyes and get lost in the simple gorgeousness of this song. When/if it feels right, let yourself sing along, taking the words into your heart. I’ve been playing and singing this mantra every day and what a gift it is for my being.
I release control and surrender to the flow of love that will heal me.
I think I came across Jon Foreman and Sculpt the World on Instagram initially and then went to his website and stayed mesmerized. His work, especially the stone creations, touches every place in my soul. His art calms me, while at the same time has me asking, “How in the hell did he do that?”
Here’s a poem I love by author and activist, Clarissa Pinkola Estés. It connects me to what I feel is one of the most empowering truths: each of us gets to choose our connection to Source, to the energy that created all things. As she writes, No one can keep you from lifting your heart toward heaven. Only you.
A Prayer
Refuse to fall down
If you cannot refuse to fall down,
refuse to stay down.
If you cannot refuse to stay down,
lift your heart toward heaven,
and like a hungry beggar,
ask that it be filled.
You may be pushed down.
You may be kept from rising.
But no one can keep you from lifting your heart
toward heaven
only you.
It is in the middle of misery
that so much becomes clear.
The one who says nothing good
came of this,
is not yet listening.
Here’s a 59-second video (of me) I shared to social media weeks ago to remind us that the juicy stuff we’re seeking — peace, love, compassion, etc. — is alive within us always. (The video won’t load directly into this email unfortunately, but if you click on the link it will take you there.)
This is a go-to when I need a guaranteed laugh and to be reminded we live in a ridiculous and delightful world. More dogs lapping smoothies please!
I’d love for you to share links to things you find beautiful in the comments. There’s so much beauty out there. We simply need to seek it.
I hope today’s email brought you some smiles and warmed your heart a bit.
Regarding beauty, remember this:
Thank you for being here, and for shining your light on our world.
Wishing you deep peace and big love,
Scott
Jacob and I recorded a new episode of Hey Jacob, Hi Scott yesterday, and we talk about hope and hopelessness, coming down from transformative experiences, the fine line between acceptance and denial, and so much more. Listen wherever you listen to your podcasts, and send us questions through the website linked above.
If you feel called to support my work financially (thank you thank you thank you!), here are some ways to do it:
You can buy signed and personalized copies of my books, Just Love and/or Big Love through my website (only available in the US at this time). They make beautiful gifts for someone you love. I promise to write something lovely.
You can get a paid subscription to this newsletter for $7/month or $70/year. Whether you are here with a free or paid subscription, you have access to all the same content. Paid subscribers do get significant discounts to most of my individual workshops, though. If it’s within your budget, I appreciate you considering a paid subscription.
You can gather a group of friends and book me for a private online or in-person workshop, where we dive into whatever topics and questions you want to explore. This is a new offering and one I’m very excited about. You don’t have to wait for me to announce a workshop and hope the timing is right. We can agree on a date and take it from there.
It means so much that you’re here. Thank you!
Remember: You are beautiful. You are worthy. You are loved. As you are.
Thank you for all this beauty!! My heart has been lifted (and I have bookmarked that youtube video).
When I want to be reminded of all the beauty in the world, I take a listen to Macy and dance around my livingroom: https://youtu.be/0qX7ZsxD3Ik.
And when I want to be reminded how good my life is, I listen to this and dance my little tush off: https://youtu.be/YDu93pdyBDE.
I hope someone here in the community finds some beauty and "joie de vivre" with one or both of these!!
BIG LOVE xxoo
All of it so beautiful, especially the song "I release control..." and the poem by Estes and, well it's almost hard to not list all of them as my favorites! Thank you so much! Much love to you!
