Hi Friends,
My new book, Enough as You Are, is out today, which means it’s available in stores and online and can be in your hands anytime you want it.
Right now I’m wishing I were less of a procrastinator and had written this announcement email earlier, on a day when I wasn’t feeling especially heavy about our world and the profound lack of compassion I witness in it. I’d love for this to be a woohoo my book is out email, and though I’m grateful it’s out today, I’m not feeling particularly woohoo. I suspect that’s been the case for many of you.
What I will say about the book and why I wrote it is that, as I’ve continued to focus on my relationship with myself, and to commit to loving myself no matter what, I’ve become much more peaceful with whatever is going on within me. And outside of me. I’m okay with the procrastinator who didn’t write this email sooner, and with the doomsdayer who loses sight of all that’s deeply good in our world. With practice and commitment, I’ve grown more and more accepting of and in love with myself. And that has, because it’s the only possibility, translated into greater acceptance and love of others.
Love is a pure, positive energy and always creates the possibility of real connection and healing.
I believe there are many paths to awakening, as many as there are human beings. I’m finding that my path begins with and continues to circle back through self-love. I am reminded often that my relationship with myself forms the foundation by which I relate to everyone and everything else. And that it’s never too late to deepen that relationship.
As I wrote in the Author’s Note in Enough as You Are…
In my last book, Big Love, I focused on past experiences and the lessons I gleaned from them, in order to guide us into more love-centered choices right now. This book, however, lives in the present, in the understanding that it’s what we do from this moment on that matters the most, no matter what we’ve done or what’s been done to us up until this point. Really take that in for a second: It’s what you do from this moment on that matters the most. What a liberating truth. And it will forever be the case, because we continue to be given new moments each second of every day.
Since there’s always a new now, it’s never too late to strengthen the relationship you have with yourself, to accept the whole of you, even what you see as your unlikable parts, and to grow more in love with yourself all the time. For real. Self-love is a skill, and as with all skills, the more you practice at it, the better you become. It’s the only possibility. By deepening your love for yourself, you naturally deepen the love you have for others as well, and for our planet. With love as a guiding force, all is possible, all the time.
I also wrote in the Author’s Note that I’m confident that as you make your way through these pages, you will feel understood, embraced, respected, and seen. Maybe not on every page but often enough to keep you reading. My hope is that you will also feel worthy, loved, and enough, as you are. That is my hope for us all.
Make no mistake: you are worthy, loved and enough, as you are.
Should you choose to pick up Enough as You Are, I offer you my most sincere thanks for supporting my work in this way. And should you choose to review the book on Amazon and Goodreads, I offer you a sweet cherry on top of that thanks.
Along with my book coming out today, I have just opened up registration for my next workshop, which will also be called Enough as You Are.
We will meet for two hours via Zoom on four consecutive Sundays beginning November 19th. We will explore practical ways to shift judgmental, self-abusive thoughts into accepting and self-loving ones. And we will gather in community with other open-hearted humans who long to create more love and compassion in our world. Go HERE for details and registration. (All sessions will be recorded so if you are unable to make any of the live gatherings, you can view them on your own time.)
My buddy David Gandelman and I had such a beautiful experience leading a retreat together in Spain this past summer that we’re going to do it again, only this time in Bali, from May 4th-11th, 2024. Bali is easily one of my favorite places on the planet and an extraordinary location to do some deep personal growth work. Go HERE for details and join us for this life-transforming retreat.
Let’s continue to live with as much compassion and love as possible. Let’s continue to live as the example we want to see in our world, and to connect with and celebrate those who are doing so too.
Thank you for being here. I love you all.
Scott
