Welcome to Bigger Love, my Substack newsletter. If you’re not familiar with Substack, it’s an online platform that allows writers to send newsletters directly to subscribers. If you’re reading this, it’s likely you were on my newsletter list already. Thank you for that. I feel incredibly excited to connect with you here. My intention is to be off social media entirely at some point, and after considering many options, I decided this is where I’d like to share my work, my heart, my art, and create community.
I’ve chosen to title this newsletter Bigger Love, because big love just doesn’t seem big enough right now. Like most of you, I feel the pain of our world deeply. I get overwhelmed, depleted, hopeless in moments. My mind wants me to believe there’s too much darkness to overcome, that we’re doomed. And yet, whenever I’m in my heart, or my soul, I receive a very different message. They remind me of the divine humanity within us all, that we are fueled with the same energy that created the oceans and mountains and planets and stars. How extraordinary! My heart carries me into the abundance of love flowing within and outside of us. My soul promises me, even though it may not appear so at times, we as a collective are always moving towards the light, towards oneness.
Let’s journey there together. Let’s inspire others to join us, too.
I believe love is the answer. To what? To most everything. I’ve felt no greater call in my life than to be a voice for love, for connection, for the relentless acknowledgment of our shared humanity. Given the state of our world, I feel that call more deeply than ever. Perhaps you do, too? Let’s stand up for love, then. Let’s love the hell out of ourselves, each other and our world, together. Let’s quit pretending there is an us and a them, when it’s always been just us. It sounds trite to say “we are all one,” and yet when I’m in my heart and soul, the truth of that statement rings clearer than ever. There is no separation. We are each an extension of a greater consciousness. Though we often have trouble seeing it, and though we forget sometimes, we really are family.
When I was considering the mission of this newsletter, I looked back on what I wrote in the introduction to my book, Big Love, and it holds true for this space, too. (I’ve replaced the word book with newsletter.)
I’d like Bigger Love to remind you that you are not alone, not by a long shot. We are all imperfect; we all have busy, fearful minds; and we all struggle. Every single one of us, every single day. I’d like the newsletter to emphasize that you are as worthy of love as anyone who has ever lived, and that nothing you do could ever make you any less worthy. Or more worthy, for that matter. I’d like it to encourage you to take responsibility for every aspect of your life, knowing that by empowering yourself this way, you set yourself up for deeper peace and greater joy. I’d like it to open you up to perspectives you may not have considered, or reinforce ones you may have forgotten, all of which will lead to a more open and honest relationship with yourself and others. Most important, I’d like this newsletter to inspire you to consider love as the guiding force in your life, regardless of circumstance. Nothing stands to transform us, our relationships, and our world, more than a commitment to live our lives from love. The bigger the better.
There’s one thing I want to add: I’d like Bigger Love to be a community space for open-hearted souls who want to co-create a more compassionate, just and loving world. Wait, one last thing! I’d like it to be a space for joy, and laughter, and fun. Yes, lots of joy and laughter and fun.
I’ll be posting whatever I feel called to share, from my mind, heart, soul and body. Expect a mix of writing, audio meditations and worthy ramblings, and some video teachings, too. Probably an oracle card reading tossed in on occasion. I’ll likely send out an email every couple weeks, though I’ll be adding content much more often, so stop by Bigger Love when you need some connection, or contemplation, or a jolt of love. Nearly everything I share here will only be found here. And please, if you feel called, share you thoughts and feelings — your heart — in the comments, and connect with others doing the same. Or just take in the different offerings in silent reflection. It’s always up to you.
In the beginning, everything will be available to all, for free. I’ve started Bigger Love with the intention of growing this into my primary source of income. My hope is there will be enough of you who choose a paid subscription that I will be able to offer all content for free always. I get that not everyone can (or wants to!) fork over $7 a month for this offering. That’s absolutely okay. If I need to attract more paid subscribers, I may add certain content down the line that is available only to those who choose to pay the subscription fee. We’ll see how it goes.
However you choose to be here, please know I’m grateful for your presence. Grateful to be traveling this journey with you. Our world needs our hearts more than ever, and we are powerful beyond measure when united in love. Truly there are no limits to what we’re able to co-create!
Never forget: you are beautiful, worthy and loved, just as you are.
Big and Bigger Love,
Scott
At 11 PM on an August night, laying on a recliner next to my elderly dad laying on his recliner, his prof was at Princeton, Albert Einstein, my dad and I would watch the shooting stars way up in the Adirondack Mountains. I was so very blessed to watch many nights in the summers the celestial handiwork firing off beautiful stars~ enormous and seemingly close in proximity~ all the while Dad would say with his Kentucky accent, wow, will you look at that~ those stars are light years away from us. Dad taught us of all his southern and Cherokee ways~ The shooting stars along with the chorus of the air and the animals of the forest night~ to me that’s love~
hav missed you,....so nice to 'hear' your words again,....thank you,.. ps. I'm confused, is this not a source of social media as well?
