Hi Friends,
I recently recorded a meditation on Insight Timer called A Second Pep Talk to Lift Your Spirits (yes, there is a first pep talk as well). The second pep talk is inspired by passages from Enough as You Are, and created with the intention of reminding you what a worthy, strong and lovable person you are.
I encourage you to check out the meditation if you’d like to hear it in my voice, but also thought it would be nice to share the script with you, so you can read it yourself and hear these words coming from your own voice, and heart.
My original title for the meditation was going to be A Pep Talk to Lift Your Spirits 2: Inspiration Boogaloo, but it felt a little long. I was a teen in the 80s and still can’t see or hear any sequel with 2 in it and not think of Electric Boogaloo. Look it up if you don’t know what I’m talking about.
Anyway, here’s the meditation. Open your heart to these words. Let yourself melt into the love alive within you.
I’d like to welcome you to this pep talk, the second in a series of two pep talks so far, with more on the horizon. I’m going to be sharing with you some inspiring passages from my book, Enough as You Are.
Let’s start by getting comfortable, however that looks and feels for you. And just breathe in whatever way feels most natural. There’s no need to force anything. Let your body find it’s most comfortable position and let your breath fall into its most natural rhythm.
I’m going to start by reminding you that you are beautiful, worthy and enough, just as you are. Really allow yourself to connect with your heart and feel the truth of those words. You are beautiful, worthy and enough, just as you are. Always have been and always will be. For real.
Now as we settle into this pep talk, there are many things I’d love you to consider:
Number One:
Every ounce of energy you put into being someone you are not takes away from the indescribable joy that comes with being yourself. When you’re brave enough to live in your truth — quirks, insecurities, fears, and all — you carve out paths for others to do so as well. You inspire in them the same commitment to a life without falseness, a deep desire for something real. You are everything you need to be, and what a gift you give our world by being yourself.
Take a deep breath and repeat the following statement, either silently or out loud: I am whole and radiant in my authenticity.
Number Two:
Do not limit yourself because of past realities. Who you are right now is someone you have never been before, with more experience and insight than you’ve ever had. Be willing to believe in yourself. Be willing to trust yourself. You can manifest life-changing wonders when you believe in your ability to create them.
Take a deep breath and repeat the following statement, either silently or out loud: I am willing to believe and trust in myself like never before.
Number Three:
Every single thing within you is worthy of love. Even better, you have the power to love every single thing within you. Invite it all in to your heart, welcome it all home, and let your love make friends with the whole of you.
Take a deep breath and repeat the following statement, either silently or out loud: I am willing to love myself completely.
Number Four:
You never know when you’ll be the person who ignites an awakening in someone else. That’s why it’s so important to weave kindness and love into our interactions as often as possible. It may be in the advice you give your dearest friend or the unfiltered smile you offer to some stranger at the store. It may be your willingness to stop whatever it is you’re doing to listen or the way in which you allow your eyes to rest on another without judgment. You can’t predict when you will be the catalyst for something wonderful to light up another human being, but there will be many such moments when your love and compassion are just what someone needs to feel understood, and okay, and inspired. To feel seen.
Take a deep breath and repeat the following statement, either silently or out loud: My love makes a huge difference in our world.
Number Five:
Don’t forget to surrender to the moments of joy that present themselves. Immerse yourself in every wave of bliss that dares to swallow you. Soften. Sink. Let yourself go.
Take a deep breath and repeat the following statement, either silently or out loud: I open myself to experiencing abundant joy.
Number Six:
There’s nothing to fix about you. Only things to remember.
Take a deep breath and repeat the following statement, either silently or out loud: I do not need fixing, because I am not broken.
Number Seven:
Just show up, as you are. You don’t have to look or feel great. You don’t have to be prepared for each challenge or know all the hows of every situation. You don’t have to be fearless, have all the answers, or be 100 percent ready. Nobody is any of these things. Nobody ever was. It’s not about being perfect at all. You just have to show up, as you are, despite all the objections and insecurities of your mind, despite each and every fear that threatens to hold you back, despite the limitations and criticisms others will place on you. To hell with all that. This is your life, your journey, your adventure, and all it’s asking of you is to show up for it, as you are. That’s enough. That’s more than enough. That’s everything.
Take a deep breath and repeat the following statement, either silently or out loud: I am willing to show up for myself, and for my life, as I am.
Number Eight:
It bears repeating once more: you are beautiful, worthy and enough, just as you are. You always have been, and you always will be.
I hope this pep talk helped you connect with your heart’s wisdom, with all the love that is alive with you, now and always. If you have any pep talk offerings / favorite mantras for the community here, please share them with us all. We need all the heart-centered connection we can get these days.
As always, thank you for being here. Your presence means a lot. Like so many of you, I’ve been struggling mightily with the state of our country and often unclear about the best way to show up within it all. For today though, my heart nudged me to rest in love, and to share messages from an open, compassionate heart.
Sending so much love and gratitude to you all, and wishing you a beautiful weekend, however that looks and feels for you.
xoxo…Scott
Detroit Friends, I’ve got two live breathwork gatherings coming up, one in Pleasant Ridge on April 27th, and the other in Troy on May 4th. These sessions are incredibly powerful and I can’t encourage you enough to give this breathwork practice a try if you haven’t already. It’s also a wonderful way to meet other local, open-hearted souls.
Retreats:
Two spots have opened up for my November retreat with David Gandelman in Portugal. Meditation, breathwork, writing, laughter, delicious food, and so much love. It’s called Inner Peace & Power in Portugal and it’s going to be an unforgettable week.
Podcast Interviews:
I recently spoke with lovely Katy Goshtasbi about all things love on her Honest Conversations podcast and it’s a good listen.
Love this map for the goldmine within each of us. ❤️🥰
Great work🙏💫
Thank you. I needed this 🙏☀️❤️
